FAQs

  • What is permanent make up?

Permanent Makeup, also known as micropigmentation or cosmetic tattooing, is a method of inserting small amounts of pigment into the dermal layer of the skin in order to enhance facial features such as eyebrows, eyes, lips, or provide scar camouflage.  This process usually involves a manual tool or a handheld machine to achieve the results.

Permanent make up procedures normally requires multiple treatment sessions. For the best results, clients will be required to return for at least one re-touch appointment. This will take place 6-8 weeks after the initial procedure.

You should be aware that color intensity will be significantly darker immediately after the first session and a few days after the initial procedure, but the color will reduce by 30-40% the days following the procedure.

  • How permanent is it?

Permanent makeup is long lasting and can remain in the skin for more than a year depending on many factors such as the color, placement,  technique, how you take care of the area and your skin type.

  • Does permanent make up fade?

Yes, over time your permanent makeup may fade. Many things may impact how long your permanent make up lasts.  For example, sun exposure, the use of exfoliants and certain skin care such as chemical peels and the use of retinol around the treated area.  To maintain the color and shape it is advisable to touch up the treated area every 1 to 2 years.

  • How long does it take to heal?

Healing time varies on an individual basis.  It can typically take up 2 weeks for the outer skin layer to heal.

  • How long does it last?

With proper care and treatment permanent make up can last from 1-3 years.

  • How long does the procedure take?

The procedure from start to finish can take roughly 2 hours.

  • What are the risks?

Every cosmetic skin procedure involves a very small degree of risk and, although exceedingly uncommon, it is important that you understand and accept the rare risks involved with Permanent Cosmetic Makeup - these include possible infection, allergic reaction, improper placement, dissatisfaction with the result, permanency, and difficulty of removal. An individual’s informed decision to undergo any cosmetic procedure is based upon a comparison of the risks to potential benefits, alternatives, and cost. We take every necessary step and precaution to minimize the risks associated with permanent makeup.

  • Does it hurt?

You may experience a minor and tolerable degree of scratching/pricking during the procedure.  A topical anesthetic is used to reduce discomfort. The treated area may be slightly tender immediately following the procedure.  Tenderness will diminish within a few days post-treatment.

  • Am I good candidate?

You want to be in general good health to receive this procedure. Unfortunately, not all clients are good candidates for permanent makeup due to the existence of certain contraindicated skin conditions or pre-existing medical conditions. If you have a contraindicated condition (see below) you may not retain color well and thus may not be entirely satisfied with your outcome. In addition, certain medical conditions may hinder your healing process which may make you more susceptible to infections.

    • Rosacea (chronic acne-like skin indicated by redness)
    • Severely oily skin on eyebrows (microblading hair strokes will appear more blended, solid, or not retain at all)
    • Large pores on your forehead & in the eyebrow area (color will blur/blend in large pores resulting in a powdered look)
    • Have moles/raised areas/piercings in or around the brow/eye area (we cannot treat on moles)
    • Deep wrinkles in the brow area (the hair strokes will not lay properly in the creases, giving the eyebrows an uneven look)
    • Hair transplant for your eyebrows (color will not take in the scar tissue where the plugs were placed)
    • Shingles (permanent makeup should not be performed as the procedure could cause a flare-up)
